With legal battles all over the world over patent issues, Apple and Samsung decided to call off their international court battles after a deal was agreed upon by both tech giants. The war is far from over though, as both companies will pursue their existing cases in the United States.
In Australia, the battle started in 2011 when Apple sued Samsung as it released the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet right before the Christmas season. Apple claimed that Samsung infringed their phone design patents. In September 2011, the Galaxy tab was banned in Germany after the courts ruled in favor or Apple. This barely affected Samsung sales, as the device was still available within the country. The international battle may be over, but the war rages on.
