Paul Ramsay was known as the founder of Ramsay Health Care as well as the first private psychiatric hospital in Sydney. Today, his company employs over 30,000 people and admits around 1.4 million patients across five countries: Australia, England, France, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Mr. Ramsay is also known for his philanthropy, serving as chairman for Ramsay Youth Services and became an officer for the Order of Australia in 2002. In support for the Kevin Spacey Foundation, he donated $300,000 in 2011.

Because of his business that has been in existence for 50 years, Mr. Ramsay was the 13th richest person in Australia, valued by Forbes at $3.7 billion. He died in his home in Bowral on May 1 after suffering a heart attack in Spain. He was 78.
