There have been several instances of people falling victim to unsatisfactory advice, or even worst investment scams. There is a streamlined process of filing a complaint, although there is some confusion as to how it is done. As of this moment, the ASIC entertains complaints that are submitted to their website, www.asic.gov.au/complain. Callers that are routed to their call centers are directed or assisted in filing the complaint online, as there is still no definite process of accepting the complaints over the phone. For complaints that are not covered by ASIC’s jurisdiction, the site will redirect you to the appropriate governing body to lodge your complaint.
Although people can file the report anonymously for safety, the limited information provided might hinder in resolving the issue. It is still best to complete the form, as ASIC assures complainants that information gathered will be kept confidential.
